About DeepResponse

DeepResponse, currently in stealth, is an applied research lab building AI tools for AGI security, starting with Detection and Response. Our mission is to help secure AI model weights and algorithmic secrets. We believe this is the defining security challenge of our time, and that Detection and Response is one of the most important and tractable ways to address it.

We believe fully automated digital forensics will radically transform Detection and Response. Deep forensic analysis provides the most accurate understanding of security breaches, but today is reserved for crises, requiring extensive manual work from scarce human experts. Our vision is to fully automate digital forensics—and apply deep forensic analysis to detection.

We’ve developed an AI agent for Digital Forensics and Incident Response (DFIR) and deployed it on live breaches in partnership with a DFIR firm, as part of a six-figure annual contract.

We are backed by a $4.35M investment by some of the world’s best early-stage investors, including Susa Ventures, Matt Clifford, Charlie Songhurst (Meta board member), and Geoff Ralston.

About the role

As Founding Engineer, you will work with DeepResponse’s cybersecurity team to work towards full automation of DFIR. The role will be technically challenging and varied. You will rethink from first principles how DFIR should operate in an AI-native way; build AI agents to automate DFIR tasks; build RL environments and curate datasets. You'll act as an extension of the founding team, work closely with them, and take on more responsibilities as fast as your performance allows.

We are open to a wide range of experience levels. We are early-stage and fast-moving, so your responsibilities will evolve and grow rapidly.

Illustrative Responsibilities

  • Build AI tools that automate DFIR processes: develop AI agents that automate DFIR analysis workflows.

  • Build realistic RL environments for DFIR tasks.

  • Establish engineering best practices: set up automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, monitoring systems, and processes that maintain code quality and enable quick issue resolution.

  • Lead technical direction: play a leading role in technical development and make key architectural decisions.

You may be a fit if you:

  • Write fluent TypeScript (React) and Python.

  • Have hands-on experience creating CI/CD processes, automated testing frameworks, and monitoring and observability systems.

  • Have built and shipped full-stack software products, leading at least one significant project into production while owning both implementation and architecture.

  • Thrive on close collaboration with users to iterate rapidly and deliver working software.

  • Are driven to leverage AI to dramatically improve AGI security.

These are worth $200K - $400K at our current valuation cap. We expect them to be worth $2M - $4M at our next financing round.
